Long exposure shots

This time I just tried to get some light lines through low ISO and a slow shutter speed

Graduation

Hi folks,

now I officially graduated – yeah. “Dear graduates, you may now turn your tassels” This sentence will forever remain in my head. Thanks to everybody who helped me getting there.

Texas

Hi everybody,

it’s been a long time since I updated the blog last time, but I desperately wanted to wait until the Texas trip with my host family. We flew from Boise over Phoenix to San Antonio, rented a Dodge Van (where we even found some months old Jelly Beans) and drove all to Dallas. We stayed there at a hotel and visited my host dads family from time to time. They also introduced us to a great restaurant chain called Panera Bread. (One of the few health conscious restaurant chains there is)

We also went to the Dallas Museum of Art, which was awesome. The exhibition included work from Picasso, Monet, Renoir and even from President Winston Churchill. That was definitely a highlight of the trip. After about 4 days in Dallas, we headed of to Corpus Christi. The weather was very warm and humid, so we spend the next two days at the beach and I got to learn skim boarding. We went there before the official summer season started, so there were just a few people and a lot of sea grass.

San Antonio has one of the few Sea Worlds and the shows they offered (Shamu (Orcashow), Azul (Beluga and Dolphinshow) and Hydro (Waterskiing)) were awesome and we enjoyed that day a lot, although everybody was a little sunburned from our days at the beach/pool. At the end of this incredible hot day the ATLANTIS ride cooled us a little down.

The last day of our trip was spent in San Antonio as well. We visited the historic Alamo (where Texas won its independence from Mexico) and the Riverwalk (which is supposed to resemble Venice). San Antonio is a great city and unlike Dallas, Downtown is very touristy with a lot of restaurants right next to the Riverwalk. We decided to go to a Mexican Restaurant and a music group even came to our table and played for a small fee a traditional song.

On our way back, we had two stops (Phoenix and Las Vegas). The Las Vegas airport is probably the most crazy I’ve ever seen. A lot of celebrities wearing huge sunglasses and watching there Louis Vuitton suitcases are right next to the vast number of slot machines.

It was an awesome trip and remember: Don’t mess with Texas!

Spring Break

Hi,

It’s Spring Break! That means warm weather, sunshine and enjoying the water, right? Well, not in Idaho 🙂 We had mixed weather conditions but we made the best out of it. From hiking at Tablerock, fishing at the hewlett reservoir, biking at Camelsback park to watching the gorgeous (but unfortunately closed) Shoshone water falls. It was a great experience and I am so thankful that my host family made this possible.

Skiing

Hi,

my high school fortunately has a ski racing team, and I am a part of it. Every Saturday in January and February, we are getting up early in the morning to hit the first runs. The very first day was freezing cold, but the last two times we went up to Bogus Basin, we had sunshine and sometimes 40°F ( 4°C).

Christmas

Hi,

this year, I was able to celebrate Christmas in a different way. My host family has, just like everybody else, different christmas traditions. One of the traditions is to watch the movie “Wonderful Life” (but the black and white one 😉 ). That is a really good movie. On december 24th, we had honey glazed ham as our christmas eve dinner and put all the presents under the tree. On Christmas day, the 25th, we stood up early in the morning to see what Santa, who got some treats the day before, had put into our stockings. After we all checked our stockings, we unwrapped our presents. Then, we finally had our breakfast and everyone got his favorite cereal. Rich and Nate got some sugar cereal and I got the healthy granola and oatmeal.

This was a different, but very nice christmas.
